Holland America World Cruise 2026
The Holland America World Cruise 2026 has one of the most interesting World Cruise itineraries available – largely because of a recent itinerary change.
The World Cruise. The Grand World Voyage. I’ve been lucky enough to sail on several Holland America World Cruises, plus a few Grand Voyages, and I’ve spent the last few years sailing onboard your home away from home for Holland America’s 2026 World Cruise, the Volendam.
These once-in-a-lifetime voyages are filled with guests like to explore the world. This is a 133 night adventure sailing roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This cruise will sail to 5 continents including Antarctica, South America, Australia, Asia, and North America. It includes many overnight ports and extended stays in some others.
The Holland America World Cruise in 2026, referred to with Holland America as their Grand World Voyage recently announced some big itinerary changes making this World Cruise the first non-circumnavigation World Cruise by Holland America – at least in the last few decades.
Holland America World Cruise 2026
There’s a lot of things that Holland America does well and for their Grand Voyages they go a step above the rest. You can expect extra onboard activities, parties, theme nights, cultural ambassadors, cultural programming and lectures, increased crew interaction, plus overnight ports and extended stays in some incredible places.
This itinerary really incorporates arguably 6 cruises into one. There is a cruise around South America, Antarctica, then there is the Australia and Oceania region, followed by a cruise through Asia, and then finishing up with a cruise to Alaska, and then the Panama Canal. It’s really a remarkable amount of the world that you will get to see.
This itinerary was originally meant to do a full circumnavigation of the globe, transiting the Suez Canal. Due to the continued unrest the last 54 days of the itinerary have been changed.
Itinerary Highlights
It will visit 5 continents and feature overnights in incredible destinations like Sydney, Rio de Janeiro, Bali, Papeete, Singapore, Hong Kong, Nagasaki, and Tokyo.
It will also visit Antarctica. It’s worth noting this isn’t a landing in Antarctica but rather several days of scenic cruising. It’s still a completely spectacular experience though and one that nearly everyone that has visited says is the most beautiful place they’ve ever been.
It’s also very interesting to see Alaska on a World Cruise itinerary – that very rarely shows up, and it includes one of my favorite Alaskan ports, Kodiak.

Holland America World Cruise 2026 Updated Itinerary
Whoa! What a change of itinerary. A Holland America World Cruise that doesn’t circumnavigate the globe? That is nearly unheard of to be honest. There’s a number of cruise lines that regularly offer a World Cruise that doesn’t do a full circumnavigation but Holland America has for at least the last 20 years offered a full circumnavigation option.
The updated itinerary changed the last 54 days of the itinerary. The ship was originally scheduled to continue west from Asia across the Indian Ocean before heading north through the Suez Canal and then exploring some of Europe.
While they could have opted to head south and head around Africa, a similar version of that itinerary is happening in 2025. They instead made the decision to explore Asia much more heavily and then end by visiting Alaska and then transiting the Panama Canal.
I will give them credit they made this change far before final payment was due, so those guests already booked can cancel if they don’t like the adjustment without any financial burden on them.
Available Segments
If you look at the itinerary and think to yourself, “this sounds great but I can’t be gone for over 4 months!” or “I’m really only interested in one part of the itinerary”, then you are in luck!
World Cruise segments are just a part of these Grand Voyages. In the case of Holland America’s Grand World Voyage in 2026 there are 4 different segment parts available.
The great part about sailing on a segment is that you get a taste of what a World Cruise is really like onboard – the extra party’s, guest lecturers, and onboard activities – but without having to commit to 4 months of your life (or the corresponding price tag). It’s a great way to test the waters so to speak.
Here are the segments available for the World Cruise in 2026:
37-Day Ft. Lauderdale to San Antonio (Santiago) January 4, 2026
61-Day Ft. Lauderdale to Sydney January 4, 2026
41-Day San Antonio (Santiago) to Singapore February 10, 2026
72-Day Sydney to Ft. Lauderdale March 7, 2026

Ship Information: Volendam
The Grand World Voyage from Holland America in 2026 will take place onboard the beautiful ms Volendam. While she is both the smallest and oldest in the Holland America fleet, she is an elegant beauty perfectly equipped to sail these beautiful long voyages.
Volendam holds 1,432 guests at double occupancy. She is 61,214 tons, 237 meters long, 32 meters wide. She was built in 1999 and she underwent an extensive refurbishment in November of 2024.
Staterooms Options:
Volendam features 5 main stateroom categories: Inside, Oceanview, Lanai, Vista Suite (lowest level balcony option), and Neptune Suite. There is also the Pinnacle Suite (penthouse) but there is only one onboard.
The staterooms are divided between five passenger decks from deck 1 to deck 7. Decks 6 and 7 are the only options for having a balcony, with all Vista Suites on either decks 6 or 7 and all of the Neptune suites on deck 7. The Neptune Lounge is conveniently located between the mid-ship and forward elevators on Deck 7.
While you won’t find any loft cabins or infinity balconies on Volendam, the cabins do tend to be a bit larger than the industry norm.
Inside cabins range from 160-180 square feet, outside are a bit bigger and range from 200 – 255 square feet, Lanai cabins are 200 square feet (all located on deck 3), Vista Suites are 230 square feet, Neptune Suites are 390 square feet, and the Pinnacle Suite is 940 square feet.
Why take the 2026 World Cruise?
This is really the question isn’t it? Why should you take this particular World Cruise. This cruise takes you to places that you might never have thought you’d visit. From Antarctica to Easter Island to Sydney to Tokyo. These are the places people dream of visiting and this is all happening on one itinerary.
You only have to pack and unpack once. Think of that – you don’t have to repack all of your suitcases and trudge them between hotels while you visit Rio, Antarctica, Auckland, Singapore. These are places all over the globe that you get to explore in one grand adventure.
Those are reasons why you would take a World Cruise, but why take the Holland America World Cruise in 2026?
To put it simply, they are the best of the “not-luxury” World Cruises. They offer the best length of voyage – 133 nights. Some World Cruises are about 100 nights and honestly that’s too short for a voyage of this magnitude and you end up visiting some incredible places and longing for more time or an overnight stay. It is just too quick.
Holland America features overnight stays in some incredible places so you don’t feel rushed but also doesn’t give you the price tag that comes with the luxury and ultra luxury lines. They offer increased onboard programming and do a big focus on cultural immersion through onboard activities, speakers, shore excursions, and through their culinary offerings.
Conclusion: Holland America World Cruise 2026
The Holland America World Cruise in 2026 is sure to be an incredible voyage and on an incredible little ship. While this isn’t a circumnavigation itinerary, visiting 5 continents on one voyage certainly still makes it a World Cruise as it traverses so much of the globe taking you from wonder to wonder.
